Happy 3 Months Sophia & Savannah!

How can it already be June?! Where is the time going? I can't believe our girls are already 3 months (13 weeks)! They are getting so big it's unreal! They don't have their next check up for another month, so I had to put them on my scale to see how much they weighed…I know it's not the most accurate, but it gave me an idea of how big they are today :) Sophia weighs around 11 lbs 9 ounces and Savannah weighs around 11 lbs 6 ounces! I tried to measure their length, but they were so squirmy I couldn't get a good reading…so we'll have to wait for next month to see how long they are! I couldn't believe Sophia surpassed Savannah!

Since both the girls have thrush, I think it's taking a toll on their feedings. I read it can cause their mouth to be a little sore :( so their bottle feedings haven't been so easy the last few days. I've been sanitizing all the pacifiers each day and giving them their medication, but it doesn't seem to be helping. Since I'm out of town this next weekend, I'm hoping it will go away since the girls will only be eating with sanitized bottles.

The past few days the girls have been sleeping between 7-8 hours each night! It's really been great getting more sleep! They say "11" is the magic number - so once babies reach 11 lbs they are able to sleep longer! This is definitely true seeing my girls are now around 11 1/2 lbs!!

Both girls are still as smiley as can be and starting to "coo" more and more. I love when they talk to me, it makes my heart smile <3 They are also both getting so strong! Sophia has been great during tummy time since day one…she can hold her head up no problem! Savannah took her time working on lifting her head. When she would be in tummy time, she would just lay down and go to sleep half the time! I really started working with her about a month ago on strengthening her neck muscles. We do different exercises each day and I'm happy to report she is doing AMAZING!

Both girls still sleep quite a bit, but when they are up they are super happy! It's amazing how much they are changing! They both are filling out beautifully and growing so fast!
I also noticed yesterday that Sophia's starting to lose her hair! I can't believe how much is falling out! It will be interesting to see if her hair stays the same or completely changes!!

Yesterday in the Father's Day message at church, one thing the new pastor said that really spoke to me was that the days are long but the years are short…and wow I could not agree more! Sometimes the days seem to go so slowly…but I can't believe our twins are 3 months and Jayden is almost 2 1/2!
Jonathan and I are definitely going to make the most of our time with our girls and cherish our days, weeks, months and years!

Happy 3 months Sophia & Savannah!
Mommy & Daddy love you so very much!!

A Perfect "Pear"

These girls never cease to amaze me! Last night they slept a solid 8 hours and went over 9 1/2 hours between feedings! I couldn't believe it was 5 AM when I woke up to Sophia squirming…after I fed her I had to wake up Savannah to eat. Who knows how much longer she would have gone!
I love how peaceful Sophia and Savannah are and how they are such happy babes! They are so smiley, they even smile in their sleep!

It's so funny how all of our girls like to sleep with blankets covering/touching their faces!!

One happy girl!

Sophia smiling and talking to her auntie!! <3

They really do make a perfect "pear"

Such an awesome, loving and helpful big sissy!
It brings me so much joy when I see our Jayden loving on her little sisters!

My new favorite thing is to dress all 3 girls the same!! It's so much fun and at the rate the twins are growing, I'm sure they will all be in the same size within a year or so :)

We are so beyond blessed with 3 perfect, healthy and ADORABLE little girls!

Terrible Twos

As much as it pains me to say, Jayden is officially in her terrible twos :(
I was hoping we would make it through the year with hardly any tantrums, but I was wrong. The last week or so she's been a little firecracker & completely unpredictable. Sometimes she's our little angel, and other times not so much.

At bible study the other night, I was talking to some of my friends and they said their hardest year so far was 2 1/2 - 3 1/2…and we are about to reach 2 1/2. Hopefully the next year isn't as difficult as they say. Jonathan and I are trying to be as patient with Jayden as possible ~ especially since now she's also teething! It is true what they say, the last molars are the worst! One of her molars popped through a few days ago and the others will be following shortly.

Luckily Jayden's vocabulary is growing every day, so it's getting easier and easier to talk to her…and her teacher at daycare, Ms. Kathleen, is working with her every day on sharing. Ms. Kathleen is an angel ~ I can't believe how sweet and caring she is! I love that she loves on our baby every week! And I'm happy to report, Jayden is officially completely off juice and only drinking milk and water! Jonathan didn't think we could cut her off cold turkey, but I just started telling her the juice was all gone and it only took her a day to get over her juice. She occasionally will ask for it now, but almost immediately corrects herself and asks for water or milk. I am one happy & proud mama!

Some of my favorite new words Jayden is saying:
Fire Truck - "Fower tuck"
Helicopter - "Copter"
Mail Truck - "Meal tuck"
Another one - "Ne one"
Ambulance - "Ambience"
Looking glasses - "looking gasses"
Motorcycle - "sea cycle"
Daddy's Music - "daddy's sisick"
Baseball shoes - "beball shoes"
Almost Home - "most home"

So if you can't tell most of my favorite words are cars & trucks…whenever we are in the car Jayden likes to look for trucks, motorcycles, bikes, planes or any other large moving vehicle. I tell her we need to put on our looking glasses so she holds her hands up to her eyes and pretends they are glasses LOL It's HILARIOUS!

Now I'll ask her to say "Ohh truck…where are you? Come Out! Looking for you" … it's took cute…she says "Are you? E out. Fee you." haha She's one smart girlie!

And she knows almost all her Disney Princesses:
Sleeping Beauty - "sleeping booey"
Snow White - "no white"
Cinderella - "Rella"
Belle - "Belle"
Tiana - "Tea-Neenah"
Elsa - "Sea-Sah"
Anna - "Nana"
Rapunzel - "Punzel"
Ariel - "Riel"

Jayden is also counting to ten! I'm so incredibly proud of her! Even though she sometimes forgets to say "three", she's doing awesome!

This was almost a month ago:

This was a week later:

We are also trying to teach her what the numbers mean, so we practice counting objects and read a lot of counting books. I don't think she quite understands yet, but she definitely understands "one more time" when she wants to sing another song before bed and "two" when she's asking for two cookies or two pieces of candy :)

Even though she's entering her terribles twos, I'm glad she's still sweet, loving and smart <3

Leaks & More

Soooo…it's been a while since my last post, primarily because I've been so busy and overwhelmed trying to get our house back in order.

A week and a half ago I came downstairs after hearing a dripping noise…it sounded like someone left the water running and it was dripping onto the floor. I never imagined in a million years I would find a HUGE bubble in our ceiling with water dripping onto our floor! Turns out we had a pin-hole leak in one of our pipes above the fireplace in our living room! So I immediately start yelling for Jonathan (who was supposed to be putting Jayden down but was playing peek-a-boo with her in her room)…and as I ran outside to turn off the water to the house, he comes downstairs to see the disaster!

He popped the hole in the paint and let the water drip out.

The next morning the paint started peeling off the ceiling and you could see the discoloration from the water damage.

I called out a plumber first thing to fix the leak and thank goodness we had water back on within a few hours of him arriving. You have no idea how often you need water (especially when you have kids) until you don't have access it!
Before cutting the hole in the ceiling to find the leak, he poked a hole in the ceiling to drain the remaining water…luckily he had a bucket handy -- there was enough water to fill up almost an entire orange Home Depot bucket! We had no idea the pipe had been leaking for about a week!

The insurance company had a water restoration company out the same day to start drying out the walls!

Turns out the water had completely damaged the wall behind the fireplace and all the way down to the baseboards.

Also, about 1/3 of the ceiling was completely damaged so they tore it out as well.

They started running fans and dehumidifiers to dry out the beams and joists. It took about 3 days for everything to dry!
Luckily my girls are used to constant noise -- the fans helped them sleep!

Now the construction company is rebuilding the walls and ceiling.
One step at a time, our house is being put back together.

Hopefully by Friday the repairs will be complete and our house will be back to normal!
